These 23mm, four-hole buttons from Courtney & Co are made from Codelite^®, a material derived from casein, the protein element naturally occurring in milk. With durability like polyester buttons, Codelite^® buttons are also bio-degradable, sustainable and traceable. These are made using dyes that are Oeko-Tex standard 100 and certified AZO free.

Milk casein was a staple for button-making in the UK going as far back as 1910 and continued through the early 1970s until they were overtaken by the use of polyester. Part of its project to restore button-making to the UK, Courtney & Co is reviving the production of Codelite^® buttons.
